Left a book to guide us.
Age 62, died Sunday, April 29. He was a member of St. Elizabeth's Episcopal Church. He was born April 24, 1945, in Philadelphia, PA to Karl A. Seger II and Audrey Seger. He grew up in Cleveland, Ohio and attended Stranahan High School in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. At 18 he joined the U.S. Army and later completed Officer Candidate School and was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant. At the time he was the second youngest person ever to graduate from OCS. He was discharged as a 1st Lieutenant. Karl received his bachelor's and master's degrees in experimental psychology at Florida Atlantic University. He was in the honorary society, Phi Kappa Phi, at Florida Atlantic. He received his PhD in organizational psychology at the University of Tennessee. In 1973 he founded Seger Consulting Group. He was an author, instructor, and consultant in the area of security, specializing in the utility industry as well as federal, state, and local law enforcement and intelligence. He published several books in the areas of power theft, anti-terrorism, and computer crime. His expertise in these areas was sought internationally. A saxophone player since his teens and avid jazz fan, he previously served on the board of the Knoxville Jazz Society. Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Suzanne M. Seger; son and daughter-in-law, Steven and Jen Seger and their children, Girault, Alden, and Harley Seger of Franklin, TN, son and daughter-in-law, David and Kathi Seger of Knoxville; mother, Audrey Trobe of Palm Beach Gardens, FL; brother, Phillip Seger of Windom, TX; sister, Susan Iaria of Palm Beach Gardens, FL; sisters-in-law, Jean Miller of Lenoir City and Lynn Tanner of Framingham, MA; several nieces and nephews.
